Weaver celebrates 102nd birthday

According to Virginia Weaver, an Eagle Lake Village resident who celebrated her 102nd birthday Thursday, Dec. 5, there’s no secret to living a long life.

Virginia Weaver, who turned 102 Thursday, Dec. 5, said there’s no secret to a long life; just take it one day at a time.

“There’s no secret, just take it one day at a time and do the best you can,” she said.

With cake and celebration, Weaver was honored for her many years, wisdom and for what she brings to Eagle Lake Village.

“She’s extremely independent,” said Executive Director Lynn Drummond.

Drummond described Weaver as loving, kind, polite and as someone who is not afraid to speak her mind and speak up for others.

“I love that she’ll speak up for others,” Drummond said.

Along with attending all the meetings at Eagle Lake Village, Weaver participates in Taste and Tells, where residents can sample possible future menu items and share their ideas.

She also has a passion for flowers and loves an adorned patio.

What’s evident about Weaver is her desire to have a life well lived.

Drummond once asked Weaver for her beauty routine and she responded the trick was to live a really good life.

The most important thing she’s learned?

“To treat other people like I want to be treated,” she answered.
