Westwood woman suffers minor injuries in crash

A woman suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention following a two-car crash on Ash Street south of 6th Street in Westwood about 4:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8.

According to a statement from the California Highway Patrol, Krystal Malena, 34, of Westwood, was standing on the outside driver’s stepside of a 2006 Toyota, driven   by Justin Stevens, 44, of Westwood, and Brian Maldonado 46, of Westwood, was following Stevens in a 1997 Ford pickup.

According to the statement, Stevens began to make a u-turn; Maldonado turned to the left to avoid a collision, but the front passenger side of the Ford   collided with the front driver’s side of the Toyota.

While Melana missed being hit by the Ford, she was ejected and collided with the roadway resulting in minor injuries. She declined medical aid.

Drugs and/or alcohol are not considered a factor in this collision.
