The Young Eagles program offers a unique opportunity for young people from all walks of life to experience the freedom of flight.
The program was instituted by the Experimental Aircraft Association in 1992 and since its inception approximately two million young people have experienced the thrill of aviation, some for the first time.
Young Eagles have gone on to become pilots, work in air-traffic control, serve in the military and even to build their own airplanes.
Our local chapter EAA Chapter 794 has an event scheduled from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at the Susanville Municipal Airport.
The program is open for ages 8-18 and minors accompanied by a parent or legal guardian will have the opportunity to enjoy a flight and receive a certificate plus learn about many other free benefits available to Young Eagles.
A few perks are: Access to the EAA’s Sport Aviation magazine, free admission to more than 300 science and technology museums, scholarship opportunities and EEA Air Academy Camperships.
