Information from today’s study session with the city council/planning commission available online

According to a statement from the city of Susanville, the Susanville City Council and the Susanville Planning Commission held a public hearing this afternoon (Wednesday, Sept. 4) regarding a technical update to the city of Susanville’s General Plan.

This technical update includes updating the housing, community character, open space, parks, recreation, childcare, community health, safety, conservation sections and implementation program chapters in the existing General Plan elements.

The city initiated this update to refine the existing goals and policies in the elements to address changes to state law, increase housing supply and consider changing community needs and opportunities.

This effort will enable the city to implement best practices to ensure the goals and policies in the General Plan meet the needs of the community now and in the future.

The success of this planning effort will depend in part on input from the community to fully identify the city’s needs and expectations for this update.

There will be many opportunities to participate in this update process.
