According to a Facebook post by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, the public is invited to attend a public engagement facilitated by the Mental Health Commission on the evening of Monday, Sept. 16, at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Susanville.
This engagement is part of the Commission’s Impacts of Firearm Violence project, an initiative that seeks to build understanding on the intersection between firearm violence and mental health and identify opportunities for prevention, intervention, and recovery from the harms associated with firearm violence. The IFV project began in August 2022 and is nearing its conclusion, with a report to be published later this year.
This unique event will bring together commissioners, legislative staff, mental health and crisis services providers, law enforcement, and other community members to hear about our learnings so far from the IFV project and gather feedback from the communities most impacted by firearm violence ahead of the publication of the final report.
According to the post, “We look forward to seeing you on Sept. 16.”
