Supes consider appointment of interim fair manager Tuesday morning

According to an agenda item for the Lassen County Board of Supervisors Tuesday, Sept. 24 meeting, the Lassen County Fair manager position will become vacant effective Sept. 27.

Neither the board nor the fair have issued a public statement regarding the circumstances that created the vacancy.

Former Lassen County Fair Manager Kaitlin Midgley recently addressed the Lassen County Board of Supervisors.

Lassen News’ attempt to seek comment from Kaitlin Midgley, Lassen County’s former fair manager, proved unsuccessful.

According to the agenda item, the board plans to appoint Samantha McMullen, assistant to the CAO/budget analyst, as interim fair manager until a permanent fair manager is “recruited, selected and assumes office.”

According to the agenda item, McMullen meets the minimum qualifications of the position, and she will receive a 5 percent raise in salary while serving as the interim fair manager.

“Upon termination of the interim appointment, the employee shall return to the employee’s former position with all status and rights that the employee had before this interim appointment.”

In addition, “the interim supervision of the fair department shall be the responsibility of the County Administrative Officer …  including sole discretionary authority to the CAO to re-assign county employees to serve as the interim Lassen County fair manager and fair department as may be needed for the duration of the vacancy.”
