Valley Electric Association in Pahrump, Nevada, announces Hamlin’s appointment as CEO
According to a statement from the Valley Electric Association, the board of directors has chosen former LMUD General Manager Robby Hamlin as CEO successor for the Co-op.
Hamlin comes to Valley with more than 30 years of experience in the electric utility industry. He has worked in engineering and operations at several utilities including Alcorn Electric Cooperative in Mississippi, Valley Electric Association (previously), CoServ Electric Cooperative in Texas and most recently Lassen Municipal Power District in California where he serves as general manager.

“I am very excited to be named CEO of Valley Electric,” Hamlin said. “It has been a career goal of mine to serve a rural electric cooperative as CEO, and Valley feels like returning home. From 2002 through 2009, my family and I lived in Pahrump. My wife and I raised our kids here and fell in love with the area. We also have family in Las Vegas, so being close to them is exciting as well, as family is very important to us. I was raised in rural Mississippi, and the closeness of small-town life is what we know and love, and Pahrump offers that. We look forward to re-engaging with friends in Pahrump and being part of the community.”
When it comes to leading Valley Electric, Mr. Hamlin is looking forward to bringing value to the members of the cooperative, building upon the improvements of the past five years and guiding and mentoring employees so that they feel valued, make decisions based on doing the right thing for the right reasons, and enjoy coming to work each day.
“I believe that our employees and the communities we serve are extremely important,” Hamlin said. “I have an open-door policy, and I want folks to know that I will be available to them, whether it’s in the office or the community. I’m happy to discuss issues and exchange ideas. I believe in openness and transparency. My goal is to put members’ needs first, in order to focus on those we serve to create a balanced and successful organization. I am looking forward to joining a team that shares my commitment to excellence, service, and sustainability.”
Mr. Hamlin will work closely with current CEO, Mark Stallons, during the transition period. He plans to begin his new role starting Dec. 9, at Valley’s Headquarters.
