About 12:28 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, units from the Susanville Fire Department responded to the intersection of Highway 139 and Hall Street for a reported vegetation fire, according to a statement from the Susanville Fire Department.
Upon arrival, Truck 1 observed a brush fire approximately 1/8 acre threatening a residential structure. T-1 assumed Incident Command and went into attack mode. T-1 made the initial knockdown and stopped the fire’s progress.
CalFire units arrived on scene and laid a progressive hose on the perimeter of the burned area. CalFire E-2271 took over command and released T-1 from the scene. T-1 returned to quarters. The fire was on State Responsibility Area land.
The SFD provided automatic aid to CalFire due to in-place agreements. The cause of the fire is under investigation by CalFire.
