Lassen County seniors take the first step toward setting their own course
A group of more than two dozen Lassen County seniors who gathered Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the Jolly Elders building in Janesville took the first step toward filling the needs of their community.
Janesville’s Jolly Elders building serves as the Janesville Senior Center, and Sharon Howard from PSA 2, Lassen County District 3 Supervisor Tom Neely, District 5 Supervisor Jason Ingram Lassen County Director of Community Social Services Jason Vial and Lassen County Program manager for Adult Services Tina Kennemore met with the seniors to discover their unmet needs in Lassen County.

She said the volunteer senior senators have been empowered to “investigate and evaluate what kinds of things should be changed in the state of California to make life better for seniors.”
She said many of the issues she’s encountered in meeting with representatives from across the state are the same ones we share here in Lassen County — the lack of a senior center, senior food, and senior housing.
Lassen County seniors met at the Jolly Elders building in Janesville last week to lay the foundation to identify and serve the needs of local senior citizens.Howard plans to meet with seniors across Lassen County in the future in order to help seniors discover and obtain the services they need.
