Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher amplified President Trump’s call to defend fairness in women’s athletics, responding to California’s continued refusal to act.

“President Trump said what millions of parents are thinking,” Gallagher said. “California is letting biological boys steal girls’ titles, and Gavin Newsom is too weak to stop it. If Newsom won’t protect fairness in women’s sports, Republicans will.”
Earlier this year, Assembly Republicans introduced two bills to preserve competitive integrity and safety in girls’ sports. Democrats killed both, even after Governor Newsom publicly called the situation “deeply unfair.”
National polling shows nearly 70 percent of Americans agree — biological males should not be allowed to compete in girls’ events.
“This is an issue of fairness,” Gallagher added. “We’re not going to stand on the sidelines as female athletes continue to lose opportunities they deserve.”
