City issues update on Well No. 3

According to a statement by the city of Susanville, the city would like to provide the community with an update regarding the ongoing repairs to Well No. 3, the city’s largest production well and primary source of irrigation water during the summer months.

Repairs to Well No. 3 remain underway, and city staff continue to closely monitor water storage levels throughout the system.

Current storage levels remain adequate to meet community demands and emergency response needs; however, with warmer temperatures approaching and outdoor water use increasing, continued conservation efforts remain important until the well is returned to service.

The city currently anticipates repairs will be completed within the next 10-14 days.

Residents and businesses may continue normal water use; however, the city requests that customers voluntarily reduce outdoor irrigation and landscape watering by approximately 25 percent and promptly repair any known water leaks at homes and businesses. These conservation measures will help maintain adequate water storage levels while repairs to Well No. 3 are completed.

These temporary conservation measures will help preserve water supplies during peak demand periods while repairs are completed and Well No. 3 is restored to full operation.
