Americans For Prosperity calls on Senators Padilla and Schiff to end the longest government shutdown in American history
Yesterday, as the government shutdown became the longest in American history, Americans for Prosperity calls on Senators Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff to put people over politics and support a clean continuing resolution to reopen the government.
Californians are feeling the pain from this shutdown. Working families across the state are feeling the pain of partisan politics.
AFP calls out Democrat leaders who have dug in their heels and pursued a strategy of using the American people as leverage for their political games instead of doing what’s right for the American people.

AFP Western Region Director Heather Andrews released the following statement
“We are now facing the longest government shutdown in American history, and Senate Democrats are to blame.
“Senators Padilla and Schiff have voted 14 times to keep the government closed. They are blocking the same clean funding bill they supported 13 times under Joe Biden.
“California families shouldn’t be collateral damage in the Democrats’ political standoffs. It’s time for Padilla and Schiff to put people before party, stand up to their leadership, and help end this shutdown today.”
