CalFire announces Hamilton Branch community fuel break operation

CalFire announces continuing timber understory burn operations near the community of Hamilton Branch beginning Wednesday, May 21 or when conditions are favorable.

According to a statement, the CalFire Lassen-Modoc Unit, in coordination with Sierra Pacific Industries, the Peninsula Fire Department and the Hamilton Branch Fire Department, will be conducting a timber understory burn within an ongoing fuel break project located near the community of Hamilton Branch.

This ongoing project may continue throughout the month of May and early June when conditions are favorable for a low-intensity timber understory burn. Smoke will be visible, and there will be no need to report.

The purpose of the project is to reduce the possibility of a fire burning into the residential areas of Hamilton Branch, Peninsula and Bailey Creek, as well as strengthen necessary evacuation routes.
