California Water Commission’s October meeting features results of public outreach and engagement surveys

Results of Outreach and Engagement Survey
Commission staff will present to the Commission the results of two surveys – one directed to the public and the other to tribes – that sought feedback on the commission’s work and engagement practices.

Water Storage Investment Program
Willow Springs Water Bank Project Update
Representatives of the Southern California Water Bank Authority, the project proponent for the Willow Springs Water Bank Conjunctive Use Project, will update the commission on the status of the project and progress toward completing the requirements needed to secure WSIP funding.

This project will operate together with the State Water Project to provide water for fish downstream of Lake Oroville while using 500,000 acre-feet of existing groundwater storage facilities to capture and store water.

State Water Project Briefing: Strategic Plan and Operations Update
Department of Water Resources staff will brief the commission on the second and fifth goal of the State Water Project Strategic Plan and will cover topics such as workforce status, key workforce initiatives and an update on the California Aqueduct Subsidence Program, as well as an update on the current operations of the State Water Project.

Consideration of Approval of Regulations for the Model Water Efficiency Landscape Ordinance
Department of Water Resources will seek approval for the proposed updates to the regulations for Model Water Efficiency Landscape Ordinance, which are updated every three years.

Commission staff will also provide a status update on the remaining projects eligible for WSIP funding:
Chino Basin Conjunctive Use Project, Harvest Water Program, Kern Fan Groundwater Storage Project, Los Vaqueros Reservoir Expansion Project, Pacheco Reservoir Expansion Project, and the Sites Project. For more information on the Water Storage Investment Program, visitcwc.ca.gov/Water-Storage.
