Call for submission to ‘VOICES’ — April 15 deadline
Are you a poetry or prose writer, a photographer or artist interested in seeing your work in print? Here’s an opportunity for you to get in print.
VOICES is a yearly anthology produced by Cold River Press. Launched in 2013 as Sacramento Voices, an anthology that featured only Sacramento regional writers, it soon grew to encompass an international community of writers, changing its name to VOICES in 2020.
VOICES 2026 is open for submissions. Send in your poetry, prose, essay, short fiction, flash fiction, photographs, artwork, and collage for our next issue of collective Zeitgeist and Creativity. Deadline is April 15 with a print date of Summer 2026.
This year’s theme, Skyscrapers, Dolphins and Evolution is sure to inspire a unique take on how we view our world, our times and our place in
history; nationally, worldly, cosmically and, most importantly, our evolution as a
species while co-existing with other species that are evolving as well.
How to submit for VOICES
We accept poetry, prose, short fiction, flash fiction and essays. When submitting please do not send your submission in the body of an email. Send it as an attachment, either .doc, or .pdf (preferred). All submissions sent in the body of emails will be summarily rejected upon receiving them.
If sending poetry please send up to six samples.
If prose, short fiction, flash fiction or essays, try to keep the word count to 2,500 words or less. If your submission is longer than this, contact us first. If you have a unique submission that does not fit these parameters contact us, we bend the rules regularly.
If you are sending artwork or photography, send the images as 300 dpi jpg, eps, or pdf (preferred). Again, do not send your artwork submissions in the body of an email, it will automatically be rejected.
Keep your submissions with the theme chosen. This year’s theme of Skyscrapers, Dolphins and Evolution allow for a wide range of creativity. Stick to the theme, it’s pretty easy to do. Stretch your mind a bit. Challenge yourself.
Try to send your submissions at one time. Sending multiple submissions over time does nothing but hinder our process. We will respond as quickly as we can whether we accept bor reject, your submission(s).
We prefer original content. If you previously published your submission let us know the first place it was published so we might give them proper credit. This includes all printed material. We are not interested in your blogs, or vlogs or your great aunt Carol’s website. Same holds true for all social media. We are only looking for previous, professionally printed, publications.
Deadline for submissions is April 15.
Anthology will be printed in Summer, 2026.
