Caltrans requests funding for Whiskey Creek Bridge replacement; announces public meeting

Caltrans District 2 is requesting funding for the expedited Whiskey Creek Bridge Replacement Project on Highway 299 at Whiskeytown Lake. The project would replace the existing Whiskey Creek Bridge superstructure on existing piers and abutments, with the additions of bike lanes and shoulders on the new structure. The new bridge approaches would be on a new highway alignment in the project area, with rock slope removal, fencing, and drainage work also included.

This project is currently planned to go to the California Transportation Commission this October for funding of project approval and environmental stage. Construction is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2026 and last for approximately two years. Traffic will remain on the existing bridge while the new superstructure is built. Periods of one-way traffic control are anticipated during the project.

Public Meeting
As part of the project approval and environmental phase, Caltrans District 2 will be holding a public meeting next month to present the project, where personnel will present exhibits and discuss traffic impacts. A public meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 in the Davis Professional Building – Lassen Training Room (1st Floor), 1031 Butte Street, Redding, California.
