Flue fire ignites blaze at Janesville home

Janesville firefighters determined a dirty flue caused a residential fire near Janesville Elementary School about 4:25 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20.

According to a statement from the Janesville Fire Protection District Fire Chief Dustin Leef arrived on the scene and observed smoke and visible flames. He requested a full structure response from the Susanville Interagency Dispatch Center. Janesville engine 425 arrived and extinguished the fire from the exterior of the structure.

The fire crew began overhauling the structure and the fire was declared out a short time later.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries, the CalFire, the city of Susanville, Milford Fire and the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office supported the JFPD.
