Gallagher challenges McGuire to series of five district debates — Plumas but not Lassen

Today, Congressman James Gallagher issued a formal challenge to his opponent, State Senator Mike McGuire, to join him in a series of five debates across California’s newly redrawn 1st Congressional District.

As Congressman Gallagher criss-crosses the new 1st district, one thing is abundantly clear: Thanks to the politically charged redistricting that came out of Sacramento, voters are confused about their change in representation.

To cut through that confusion and give Northern California families the transparency they deserve, Gallagher is formally challenging his opponent to a series of five debates across the district.

The Gallagher campaign has proposed debates in the following locations:
● Butte County
● Plumas County
● Lake County
● Sonoma County
● Mendocino County

The Gallagher campaign is fully committed to working with McGuire’s team in good faith to establish mutually agreeable dates, locations, formats, and neutral moderators.

Representative James Gallagher.

“Following the backroom redistricting that took place, voters across Northern California deserve transparency on who will be their next representative and where they stand on the issues,” said Gallagher. “I look forward to sharing my record and vision with the voters of District 1. This campaign will highlight the clear contrast between my background as a sixth-generation California farmer with a proven record on wildfire relief, job creation, and holding government accountable versus my opponent, who will have to defend a political career of raising our costs and crushing family budgets.”
