After years of work, the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, with my bill the HOME Act, is now law.
Congressman John Garamendi.
This bipartisan legislation gives communities the tools to build more affordable housing, expand homeownership opportunities, and help lower housing costs for working families. Last week, I held a press conference with El Cerrito Mayor Gabe Quinto and other local housing champions to discuss the impact this bill would have right at home.
This is a major step toward addressing our nation’s housing shortage. The HOME Act modernizes a critical federal housing program for the first time in decades, giving state and local governments greater flexibility to meet their communities’ needs.
Thank you to the bipartisan coalition, housing advocates, and community leaders whose hard work made this possible.
Together, we can build more affordable homes and create stronger communities for families throughout the Bay Area and across the nation.
