HLVRA board may approve 50 percent funding increase request Tuesday

Citing an overall 71 percent increase in operating costs since 2018, the Honey Lake Valley Recreation Authority board of directors is expected to approve a letter to both the city and the county seeking a 50 percent increase in funding — from $80,000 per year to $120,000 per year from each agency — at its 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, meeting in the Susanville City Council Chambers, 66 N. Lassen St.

The original funding for the joint effort by the city and county to bring a pool to the community has only been agreed to through the 2028/29 fiscal year.

Other items on the agenda include approval of the minutes of the Aug. 27 special meeting; public comment; consideration of the city’s reimbursement request ($8,053.37); and the funding request letter.

The HLVRA’s next regularly scheduled meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Oct. 15.
