Here’s a roundup of actions taken by the Lassen Humane Society Board of Directors at its Wednesday, March 11 meeting. Director Eve Maslin was absent.
The board unanimously approved the minutes of its Feb. 11 meeting.
The board unanimously approved budgeting $200 for membership mailers.
The board received the treasurer’s report and committee reports (Animal Shelter, Spay/Neuter Subsidy program (a total of 36 animals in February — 24 feral cats and 12 shelter dogs); a report on the LHS phone lines; a report on Pet Finders; a report on fundraising; a report on community presence (the March 12 St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and participation at the Farmer’s Market); a report on $5 Friday; a report on Terra Cycle; a report on publicity; and a report on membership (according to the bylaws, members must join by the end July in order to run for office in November).
Spay/neuter subsidy program So far in 2026, the spay/neuter subsidy program has served 53 animals, including 36 in February (24 feral cats and 12 dogs at the Lassen County Animal Shelter).
Fundraisers The board continued discussions on upcoming fundraising events — Independence Day and the Lassen County Fair; a concert in the park Aug. 8; The Black Cat Ball; The Thanksgiving Animal Cornucopia and Christmas events.
