Reno teen in custody after leading CHP on 130-mph chase on Highway 395

On July 24, 2026, a Susanville CHP unit observed a Dodge Charger traveling at 130 mph, southbound on Highway 395.

The officer initiated a traffic stop but the driver of the Charger fled and a pursuit ensued.

After being pursued for more than 30 miles, the Charge’s enginer failed, causing the vehicle to become disabled.

The Susanville CHP units were able to safely take the driver, an unidentified 19-year-old from Sparks, Nevada, into custody.
