Secretary of State announces registration is open for the 2026 California Student Mock Election
2California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., announced that registration is open for the 2026 California Student Mock Election. Weber and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond are partnering to host the 2026 California Student Mock Election and have invited California middle schools and high schools to participate.

“Young people are part of our democracy and can participate in the electoral process,” Weber said. “The Student Mock Election provides students with an opportunity for civic engagement by tapping into the excitement of the campaign season. As students learn about the candidates and issues, they discover how government affects every part of their lives and the lives of others in their communities. Students can gain firsthand knowledge of how citizens make their voices heard in our democracy. They can also experience the power of their vote when they are joined by thousands of other California students participating in the California Student Mock Election.”
