A group of older teens trying to cool off by swimming in the Susan River near the Richmond Road Bridge ended their day with a scare when one teen slipped on the wet rocks and hurt himself.

Around 5:22 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, Aaron Pruitt, of Herlong, complained of head and back pain after he apparently slipped on water level rocks below the bank of the river near Mill Street, according to a report issued by the Susanville Fire Department.

Incident Commander Brad Medvin, of SFD requested additional resources for rope and water rescue operations.

Pruitt was stabilized at the location of his fall, and then removed from the water to a waiting medical unit. He was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center for treatment. Pruitt was later transported out of the area to another facility.
