Rescue personnel prepare to lift a Herlong teenager out of the Susan River on a backboard.Around 5:22 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, a Herlong teenager, complained of head and back pain when he apparently slipped on water level rocks below the bank of the river near Mill Street, said a report issued by the Susanville Fire Department.

The teenager was stabilized at the location of his fall, and then removed from the water to a waiting medical unit. He was transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center for treatment. He was later transported out of the area to another facility.
