Tuesday. Aug. 21, 2007 • Delight Callegari retires after 33 years

Delight Callegari plans to retire from the Lassen County Federal Credit Union after working there for 33 years.

The chief executive officer said she has mixed emotions about retiring.

“It’s hard to leave my second family at the credit union, but I am looking forward to traveling and spending time with my husband, Lino, and my family.”

Callegari began her career at the credit union in April 1974 when she was offered the treasurer position.

She said the credit union was organized in 1966 by county and city employees who wanted to be able to pool their money and receive higher interest on their savings and pay a lower rate for their loans.

At the time, the only services offered were shares or saving and loans, and Callegari said all transactions were posted by hand. When she started the credit union had 434 members and $187,399.32 in assets.

“My first office consisted of a table in the same room as the retiring treasurer. The office was located in the county road department building,” said Callegari. “I am always amazed when I look back at how and when the credit union was established and compare it with where we are today. We have our big beautiful building at 2605 Riverside Drive. Our membership has grown to 5,671 and we $53 million in assets.”

Callegari said she was born in Chico, California to Olive (Stokes) Schorzman and Ed Schorzman. She has two brothers and one sister.

She settled in Susanville and graduated from Lassen Union High School in 1958. She married Lino Callegari and together they were “blessed with four children, Gino, Mario, Dante and Theresa.”

The Callegaris have 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Lino is currently the mayor of the city of Susanville.

Delight also attended Lassen Community College.
