LHS Class of 1969 holds class reunion

Many count their high school years among the best in their lives, while others are not quite so enthusiastic.

But one thing’s for sure, when classmates from Lassen High School’s Class of 1969 gather for their 55th Reunion from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 14, at the Monticola Club, all those old memories will find a place to shine.

Tickets for dinner and dancing are $20 per person.

RSVP and check to Sherrie Thornton (Towel), 590 Meadowview Drive, Susanville, CA 96130.

What a soundtrack
Just to kick the memories into high gear and kick start this whole shebang, the top 10 songs of 1969 were (according to Billboard magazine) “Sugar, Sugar” by the Archies, “Aquarius” by the 5th Dimension, “I Can’t Get Next to You” by the Temptations, “Honky Tonk Women” by the Rolling Stones, “Everyday People “by Sly and the Family Stone, “Dizzy” by Tommy Roe, “Hot Fun in the Summertime” by Sly and the Family Stone, “I’ll Never Fall in love Again” by Tom Jones, “Build Me Up Buttercup” by the Foundations and “Crimson and Clover” by Tommy James and the Shondells.

Remember the movies of that year — Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Love Bug, Midnight Cowboy, Easy Rider, Hello Dolly, Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice, Paint Your Wagon, True Grit, Cactus Flower and Goodbye, Columbus.

Happy reunion, great memories and camaraderie to all.
