Albaugh says Ingram just needs to follow procedures to get items on the agenda

Lassen County District 4 Supervisor Aaron Albaugh took exception to a Lassen News story regarding District 5 Supervisor Jason Ingram’s difficulty getting items placed on the agenda for the supervisors’ meetings as reported Oct. 6 by LassenNews.com.

During the unagendized reports by board members portion of the Tuesday, Oct. 14 meeting, Aaron responded to the LassenNews.com story about Ingram being unable to get an item on the agenda regarding the board’s position on Prop 50.

“I read an article in the paper by Sam Williams — somebody doesn’t know how to get anything on the agenda,” Albaugh said. “I found it to be very disappointing and disturbing. We had a discussion here at the board level about how to get something on the agenda. When you become a supervisor, there’s supervisor training where you learn how to put it on there. And I think the amount of time somebody’s sat on the board, he should know how to put it on the agenda rather than just go complain to the public. I found that to be very disturbing and disappointing, so hopefully they can learn from that and we can move forward.”

Ingram told LassenNews.com he asked Board Chairman Tom Neely to put the item on the agenda. Later he received an email response that such a question could not be placed on the agenda because of a legal opinion by Lassen County Counsel.

According to a post on Ingram’s Facebook page, “I urge everyone to vote no on Proposition 50. This measure misrepresents the interests of our community in the North State. I requested to have it agendized and put it to a vote by the board, but our county counsel claimed we can’t address propositions due to FPPC regulations. I find that hard to believe. We’re getting bad legal advice. If other boards of supervisors can do it across the state, we can too.”
