Better Business Bureau announces return of Barry Goggin Scholarship

The Better Business Bureau serving Northeast California and Sacramento announces the return of the Barry Goggin Scholarship.

This prestigious scholarship, funded by the BBB and supported by a community of local donors, will award four scholarships valued at $2,500 each to deserving students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, or vocational programs.

About the Barry Goggin Scholarship
The Barry Goggin Scholarship honors the legacy of Barry Goggin, a dedicated leader who served the BBB for 40 years. As former President and CEO of the BBB in Sacramento, Goggin was known for his unwavering commitment to the BBB’s mission and his passion for helping others. Even after his retirement, he continued to contribute to the BBB system with his invaluable insights and guidance.

In recognition of his lifelong contributions to the BBB and his community, Goggin was inducted into the International Association of Better Business Bureau’s Hall of Fame in 2014. Although Barry passed away in May 2017, his legacy continues to inspire future generations through this scholarship, which supports students in their educational and vocational pursuits.

Eligibility criteria
The Barry Goggin Scholarship is open to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Be a resident within the BBB of Northeast California’s 24-county service area.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Submit an eligible essay or video essay.
  • Be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate, graduate or vocational program.

Application process
Applications for the 2025-2026 Barry Goggin Scholarship are now open. The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2025. Students interested in applying must complete their application online and provide necessary documentation, including proof of eligibility.
