California seeks teachers

It’s April, National Public Schools Month, and California is facing a shortage of qualified teachers and counselors. To help solve this, the California Department of Education is providing pathways and guidance to help California residents become educators and to ensuring that all students in California have access to a high-quality education.

The state of California, through the Golden State Teacher Grant, provides up to $20,000 in free grants to eligible students who plan to pursue a career as a teacher, school social worker, school counselor, school psychologist or child welfare and attendance official.

In addition, the CDE’s Becoming an Educator web page contains a wealth of information and resources to provide pathways and guidance to becoming an educator in California public schools.
