California’s Office of Data and Innovation wants to hear from you

Barbara Cosio Moreno, Communications Director of the California Office of Data and Innovation, a state department that manages Engaged California, “wanted to flag a story that we would love to get in front of your audience.”

Moreno wrote Engaged California is a statewide non-partisan platform inviting all Californians to tell the state how they feel about the impacts of AI.

People deserve the opportunity to voice their opinions, and we need representation from your region,” Moreno wrote.

According to the release, “Governor Newsom is expanding California’s first-in-the-nation digital democracy program, Engaged California, opening it up to all Californians for the first time. After two pilots, California is launching its most ambitious project yet by announcing a statewide recruitment for Californians to share details on how AI is affecting their work and our economy, and what the state should do about it. The feedback will be used to inform and guide state policy leaders on this new technology.”

“We’ve got to be clear-eyed about this moment,” Newsom said. “AI is moving fast, bringing enormous opportunity, but also real risks. Californians deserve a seat at the table as we shape what’s to come. Engaged California is making sure people aren’t just spectators, but participants in decision-making and state policy.”
