Camacho named superintendent/president at LCC

Carie Camacho is the new president/superintendent at Lassen Community College.

The Lassen Community College Board of Trustees announced it took action during closed session at its Jan. 14, regular meeting to announce the selection of the new superintendent/president for Lassen College.  The board announced it unanimously chose Camacho, who has been the interim superintendent/president at LCC for the last 2 ½ years.

Camacho has proudly served Lassen Community College for 27 years, starting her college career at LCC prior to transferring to Chico State to complete her BA in sociology followed by her masters in counseling from the University of LaVerne. Prior to accepting the position of interim superintendent/president at LCC,  Camacho has dedicated her life to educating students at the community college level, having served as an academic/veterans/athletic/career counselor, a member of the faculty teaching sociology, interim dean of academic services/chief instructional officer, interim vice president of academic services/chief instructional officer and interim superintendent/president.

“I feel very fortunate to have spent my career at Lassen College working with the students in our area,” Camacho said. “I am very excited to continue the great student-focused work we have accomplished these past couple of years. It’s truly an exciting time for students and staff as the college celebrates its 100 year anniversary.”

Camacho and her husband, Kase Camacho, who is a life-long resident of Susanville and a teacher, enjoy participating in many activities in our local community and support athletics both at the high school and college levels. Their daughter, Maddie, is in her last year of law school at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
