Chico man suffers moderate injuries in suspected DUI crash

Jared McCarty, 25, of Chico, suffered moderate injuries Tuesday, June 4, when he crashed his 1998 Toyota on Highway 32 in Tehama County.

According to a statement from the California Highway Patrol, McCarty was driving his pickup westbound on Highway 32 when he drove to the right and exited the roadway, hitting multiple milepost markers, rolling over to the right and crashing into a tree.

McCarty was pinned in the cab and extricated by CalFire personnel. He was arrested for driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and transported to Enloe Medical Center.

He was not wearing a lap/shoulder harness at the time of the crash, which is still under investigation.
