City Council holds two meetings Wednesday

Wednesday, May 21 will be a busy day for the Susanville City Council as it holds two meetings that day.

First up is a special meeting at 3 p.m.  — a conference with labor negotiators from the Fire Unit, the Miscellaneous Unit, the Public Works Unit, the Susanville Police Officers Association and Department Heads (city clerk, economic development director, finance director, public safety chief and the public works director).

The council returns for a regularly scheduled meeting at 5 p.m. There is no closed session.

Items on the agenda include Business from the Floor; the Consent Calendar (minutes from the council’s May 7 meeting, vendor and payroll warrants, the Monthly Financial Reports (January through March 2025), consideration of Resolution No. 25-6432 approving and accepting a $1,138 donation from the Walmart Spark Good Foundation for the Susanville Police Department and a public hearing to receive a report on job vacancies and recruitment and detention efforts); New Business (a 2025-2026 budget discussion, consideration of Ordinance No. 25-1048 amending the Susanville Municipal Code to allow the city council to act as Susanville Planning Commission, a discussion regarding Broadband Internet (Fiber Optics Susanville and Frontier Communication) and a discussion regarding the Honey Lake Valley  Community Pool); Department Reports; and Future Council Items.

The Susanville City Council’s next regularly scheduled meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4.
