Mayor announces Crime Stoppers’ reward for information leading to the arrest of graffiti artists

Susanville Mayor Mendy Schuster has had enough, and she’s enlisted Crime Stoppers help in ridding our community of  local graffiti artists who vandalize public and private property with a can of spray paint.

In announcing the city’s crackdown yesterday, Susanville Mayor Mendy Schuster said, “I have become very tired of the graffiti around town. People are vandalizing our businesses, parks, bridges, etc. Our police department is doing a great job, but it’s really hard to find these criminals — they work in the dark. The city has paid for paint and supplies to clean up graffiti on our public properties many times only to have it happen again and again. I know businesses have been through the same thing along with some private property owners.

“I spoke with Lassen Crime Stoppers regarding the graffiti problem, and they promptly decided to get a flyer out announcing that they will offer up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of these vandals. I am hopeful this will help slow down or even stop the graffiti, and I want to thank Lassen Crime Stoppers for all they do. They plan to have the flyer out tomorrow. Chief Bollinger and I spoke, and he will see that the flyer is posted on the Susanville Police Department page.

“Remember,  should you see someone vandalizing property or if you know someone who did, you will remain anonymous. Call (530) 502-TIPS and report it. We all deserve to live in a town that’s not scarred with graffiti.”
