Lassen County Administrative Officer Richard Egan notified the Lassen County Board of Supervisors of his intention to retire this December at the board’s Tuesday, Aug. 13 meeting. He said he wanted to give the board as much time as possible to consider his replacement.

Board chair Aaron Albaugh said he regrets Egan’s decision, “but we will accept this letter.”
Egan wrote the board, “It has been a career long privilege and honor to be on the county of Lassen’s team for the past 30 years. The experience has provided me the opportunity to work with and serve some of the finest people in the world in this wonderful community that I will always call home.
“With great pride and appreciation, I tender this letter of retirement. It is my intention to retire my position of Lassen County Administrative Officer on Dec. 27, 2024. I sincerely thank the board and the county team, and also the county constituents who have granted me this opportunity to serve the community.
“I look forward to working with the board and staff during the next few months in developing and facilitation a transition plan to new county leadership.”
