California Forward is thrilled to launch the Young Leaders Program — an evolution of the Young Leaders Advisory Council — designed to empower and elevate the next generation of policy, industry, and nonprofit changemakers.
The application opened Wednesday, Feb. 26. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 21, 2025. The Interview Window is Monday, March 31, 2025 through Friday April 4, 2025.
This two-year program is open to California residents ages 20-25 from diverse backgrounds who are committed to building a New California Economy that is resilient, sustainable, and inclusive.

New participants focus on skill-building, while returning members step into leadership and mentorship roles.

The history of the Young Leaders Program
The CA FWD Young Leaders Program builds on the legacy of youth-driven impact, evolving from the Young Leaders Advisory Council to equip Californians with leadership, advocacy, and professional development skills. From driving digital equity efforts to engaging in policy communication, systems thinking, and storytelling, YLP prepares young leaders to shape California’s future.
With applications open, this year’s program offers immersive training, real-world projects, and in-person convenings focused on key policy areas like climate resilience, economic development, and workforce mobility.
