Gallagher celebrates Northern California’s role in National Farmer’s Market Week

Representative James Gallagher announced his support and co-sponsorship of the Farmer’s Market Week Resolution, led by Representative David Valadao, recognizing Aug. 2–8 as National Farmer’s Market Week. The bipartisan resolution recognizes the important role farmer’s markets play in connecting local farmers with their communities and strengthening rural economies.

Representative James Gallagher.

“Farmer’s markets are part of what makes the North State special,” Gallagher said. “They give families the chance to buy fresh, locally grown food while supporting the farmers who work hard to produce it. I’m proud to join this resolution in recognizing the growers, vendors, and market managers who help make these markets a success.”

California’s First Congressional District is home to a wide range of specialty crop growers, small farms and rural communities that rely on farmer’s markets as a key outlet for fresh, locally grown food. The resolution underscores the importance of these markets in promoting local agricultural goods, strengthening regional food systems, and supporting producers who face rising costs and market pressures.

Gallagher’s support for the resolution reflects his continued focus on advocating for California farmers, including efforts to expand market access, reduce regulatory burdens, and ensure federal programs reflect the needs of rural communities like those in California’s 1st Congressional District.
