Gunderson welcomes students, family, staff and community to the new school year

Lassen County’s Superintendent of Schools Patricia Gunderson wrote a letter of welcome to the community as the school year begins.

Dear Lassen County students, families, staff and community
As we begin a new school year, I want to warmly welcome everyone back to our classrooms, playgrounds, and campuses across Lassen County. The start of each year is a special time, filled with anticipation, renewed energy, and the promise of growth and opportunity.

Our schools are the heart of our communities, and it takes all of us — students, educators, families, and community members — working together to create safe, supportive, and inspiring learning environments. I am proud of the dedication our teachers and staff bring each day, and I am deeply grateful for the continued support from families and community partners who help ensure our students thrive.

This year, we remain committed to nurturing not only academic success but also the social and emotional well-being of every student. Together, we will continue to build strong foundations for learning, celebrate the unique strengths of our children, and prepare them for bright futures.

I encourage you to stay involved, support one another, and celebrate the many successes — big and small — that we will share this year. By working hand-in-hand, we can ensure that Lassen County schools remain places where every student is valued, challenged, and supported.
