Public comment
According to the agenda, “This is the time set aside for citizens to address the commission on any item of interest to the public that is within the subject matter jurisdiction of the commission. For items that are on the agenda, public comment will be heard when the item is discussed. If your comments concern an item that is noted as a public hearing, please address the commission after the public hearing is opened for public testimony. The chairman reserves the right to limit each speaker to three minutes. Please understand that by law, the commission cannot make decisions on matters not on the agenda.”

Seating special districts
The commission will hear a staff report regarding a Lassen Special District Association meeting and feedback received. The commission will table the discussion and its decision to send invitations to special districts until Oct. 21 after the city and the county have approved an alternate funding structure.

Municipal Service Review for the Susanville Sanitary District
The commission will receive the staff report, open the public comment period through Sept. 9 and set a public hearing for Oct. 21.

Lassen LAFCo website update
The commission will receive a staff presentation on the website update and provide feedback on any desired edits or additions.

CALAFCO attendees
The final budget for FY 24-25 allocates funding for one commissioner to attend the CALAFCO Conference at Tenaya Lodge near Yosemite Oct. 16-18. The commission must choose the attendee so staff can register for the conference. The attendee will be responsible for booking the hotel at the conference rate. It is recommended that this occur as soon as possible as rooms can sell out.

LAFCo’s next regularly scheduled meeting will be held Oct. 21.
