Lassen Fire Safe Council announces August meeting

The Lassen Fire Safe Council announces its August meeting — 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at the Susan River Fire Hall, 705-145 Highway 395 in Johnstonville.

Items on the agenda include the Managing Director’s Report (CalFire Grants — Hog and Sheep fire restoration, Shingletown WUI fuels treatment, Dyer Mountain WUI fuels treatment, Whitmore Forest and Watershed restoration, Clear Creek and Hog Flat fuel treatment, and RFFCP Hazard Assessment); SMC grants — Bootsole, East side communities and Diamond Mountain; and other — Honey Lake Valley RCD-SPA, California Fire Safe Council county coordinator, USFS Cradle Valley/Bootsole Dixie Fire salvage and defensible space assistance grant); closed out projects; new planned/awarded projects (South Lasse Wildfire Recovery Project); agency updates (BLM, CalFire, SNC, USFS, Lassen County OES, SPI, Honey Lake Power, Lassen County, Honey Lake RCD, Red Cross and Firewise community leaders); guest speaker; and public comment.

Guest speaker Bill Jacks, of the Terra Fuego Resource Foundation, will discuss the Five Dot Ranch Project.
