Lassen Fire Safe Council, Lassen College Foundation join forces to offer Forestry and Fire Technology scholarships at LCC

When there’s a fire, you really need a firefighter!

According to a Facebook post, the Lassen Fire Safe Council is partnering with the Lassen College Foundation to provide $10,000 in scholarships for students in Forestry and Fire Technology programs at Lassen College.

These programs are vital to Northeastern California, training the next generation of professionals who protect our forests, respond to wildfires and steward our natural resources.

The Lassen Fire Safe Council plays a crucial role in our region — working to reduce wildfire risk, protect local communities and build a more fire-resilient future. Their investment in Lassen students reflects their deep commitment to long-term safety and sustainability.

Let’s celebrate this partnership that supports student success and a safer, stronger community.

Well, it looks like part of the 2025 good news from the Lassen Fire Safe Council Community Fund got out ahead of us announcing it. Lassen College Foundation is very quick!

We will have more on this exciting initiative for our communities to “grow our own” next generation of fire fighters and forestry-related professionals. We are hopeful that by identifying opportunities for our local college-bound students in areas with employment opportunities, they may stay and work here, maybe even at CalFire Lassen-Modoc Unit.

We will have more good news on the projects the Community Fund is supporting very soon, so stay tuned.
