Lassen Masons Lodge recognizes students and teachers of the year at annual ceremony
More than 150 parents, family and friends were in attendance at Lassen Lodge #149 F&AM its annual Public Schools Night at the Lodge on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Photos by Jim ChapmanIt was the 106th Annual Observance and there were 30 students and 14 teachers that were recognized from 16 area schools.
From the left, Lodge Treasurer and Scholarship Chairman Jim Chapman welcomed and distributed checks to the 2026 Peter Lassen Scholarship recipients Kaylee Micone (Lassen High), Awapuhi “Pooch” Hathaway (Lassen High), Shayla Sharp (Westwood High); Junior Warden Tony Lane; recipient Cadence Robinette (Lassen High), Senior Deacon Bob Tripp and Master Scott Tripp. Not pictured was Julia Bruce (Lassen High).In addition to the Students and Teachers of the Year, four of the five graduating seniors chosen for the lodge’s Peter Lassen Masonic Scholarships were recognized and they received their first check of $1,000.00 for their two-year scholarships.
Once they complete their first year of schooling and register for their second year, they will receive a second $1,000.00 check. Each of the 30 students recognized also received $100.00 cash award with their certificates.
Big Valley High School
Teacher of the Year Tim Crabtree and Student of the Year Ahtziri Barber-Rodriguez were introduced, but were unable to attend.
Big Valley Elementary School
Teacher of the Year Brenda Rodriguez and Student of the Year Ella Dodgen were introduced, but were unable to attend.
