LMUD roundup — May 27

Here’s a roundup of actions taken by the Lassen Municipal Utility District’s Board of Directors at the publicly owned utility district’s Tuesday, May 27 meeting.

The board announced the resignation of Ward 2 Director Bud Bowden. The board plans to appoint a member to serve the remainder of Bowden’s term (which expires in January 2027) within the next 60 days. The appointee must reside within District 2. For more information, call LMUD at (530) 257-2558.

The board unanimously approved the minutes from its April 22 regular meeting and its May 13 special meeting.

The board unanimously approved a $431,231 contract with Power Engineers for testing and commission of the Skedaddle Substation; the board unanimously approved a $492,888 contract with Power Engineers for quality assurance inspection services and construction management; by a 3-0-1 vote (Jesse Urionaguena abstained due to his relationship with the company) the board awarded a %5.8 million construction contract for the Skedaddle Substation with Summit Line Construction; and they took no action after a review of the Power and Delivery Cost Analysis (the rates remain unchanged).

The board also discussed the results of its recent Customer Survey, its Recruitment and Vacancy Update, its Distributed Generation Net Meter Excesses Compensation Review, and received reports from the business manager, the general manager and the electric operations manager.

The board met in closed session for a conference with legal counsel regarding existing litigation (LMUD v. William Butler, et al).

Upcoming meetings include a Special Board Meeting/Capital Improvements Budget Workshop at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 5; a Special Board Meeting/Budget workshop at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 19; and a Regular Board Meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24.
