The America Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold ceremonies honoring America’s departed warriors Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.
American flags decorate the Susanville Cemetery gravesite of Tommy Tucker, the first Lassen County resident to die in action during World War 1.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars, William Davidson Post No. 2381, hold a ceremony with an Honor Guard and a Color Guard at the Susanville Cemetery (known by locals as the Pioneer Cemetery) at 8 a.m. At the conclusion of that ceremony, the VFW will visit the Chestnut Cemetery.

The American Legion Post 204, the Tommy Tucker Post, presents the ceremony at Diamond Crest Cemetery at 11 a.m., including the Avenue of Flags — flags that once decorated a fallen veteran’s casket, donated to the American Legion for this local Memorial Day tradition.
