Today the Lassen Municipal Utility District announced its decision to remove the Hayden Hill transmission line, abandoning its effort to resolve the environmental issues, reenergize the line and then sell it to Surprise Valley Electric.
As one of the loudest voices questioning the wisdom of LMUD’s decision to try and resurrect the Hayden Hill line, I would be remiss if I didn’t now acknowledge I believe the publicly owned utility district has made the correct decision.
While I don’t need to rehash all the history of the Hayden Hill line here today, I do need to publicly acknowledge the LMUD board, staff and everyone else involved in making what I’m sure was a difficult and probably painful decision reversing the course the district has followed for nearly two decades.
Best wishes moving forward, and thank you to all for doing the right thing.
