The Nation Weather Service in Reno, Nevada has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Lassen, Eastern Plumas and Eastern Sierra counties including the cities of Susanville, Westwood, Sierraville, Portola and Loyalton in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday evening.
The NWS advises of heavy snow accumulations of up to 6 inches below 6,500 feet, 6 to 12 inches above 6,500 feet, and up to 24 inches above 7,000 feet in eastern Sierra County. Peak winds could gust as high as 40 mph Saturday afternoon.
Travel could be very difficult, especially for Saturday evening and the Sunday morning commutes.
