Caltrans is resuming work on the Lake Shasta Viaducts Project on Northbound Interstate 5 near O’Brien, just north of Shasta Lake.
Beginning the week of June 22, motorists should expect nighttime traffic control Monday through Thursday between the Tunnel Gulch Viaduct and the O’Brien Rest Area.
Crews are scheduled to work from approximately 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Traffic delays are expected and motorists are encouraged to allow additional travel time through the area.
The project will rehabilitate three bridges by replacing worn bridge deck surfaces, repairing aging concrete, replacing joint seals and completing pavement work between the structures. The improvements will help extend the life of the bridges, improve ride quality and reduce the need for more extensive repairs in the future.
No work is scheduled July 2 through July 5 in observance of the Independence Day holiday weekend
Motorists are reminded to slow down, remain alert and use caution when traveling through the work zone. Delays are expected and travelers are encouraged to allow additional time when planning trips through the area.
