It’s been a busy few days for K-9 Zeke and his handler, Susanville Police Officer Michael Hoover.

Officers take a bite out of the local drug trade

The Susanville Police Department’s K-9 Zeke and his handler officer Michael Hoover have been pretty busy the past few days sniffing out drugs.

“Zeke and officer Hoover (are) putting a dent in drugs,” said Kevin Jones, Susanville chief of police and interim city administrator.

About 3 p.m. Friday, June 12, officers from the SPD, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Forest Service Law Enforcement Office and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation executed a search warrant at a Johnstonville Road residence.

The search warrant was directed at obtaining illegal drugs. When searching, officers collected a variety of illegal drugs and prohibited items belonging to the owners.

Lassen County resident Karen Tibbet, 60, was arrested for possession of controlled substances for sale and being a felon in possession of a stun gun.

Lassen County resident Tim McCallister, 52, was arrested for possession of controlled substances for sale and being felon in possession of ammunition.

Both were booked and held at the Lassen County Jail. The investigation originated from McCallister’s prior drug arrest.

About 9:10 p.m. Friday, June 12, Zeke and Hoover conducted an enforcement stop for a traffic violation. During the stop, Zeke alerted to the vehicle resulting in a search. The search revealed methamphetamine and paraphernalia.

Lassen County resident Michelle Saders, 29, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

The passenger of the vehicle, Anthony Taylor, 30, was arrested on a local felony warrant.

About 2:30 a.m. Sunday, June 14, Zeke and Hoover conducted an enforcement stop for a traffic violation. During the stop Zeke alerted, resulting in a search of the vehicle. The search resulted in 27 grams of methamphetamine and evidence of sales of drugs.
