Peterson Cat and Cresco Cat Rentals and the community celebrated the arrival of the companies in Susanville at an open house and grand opening Friday, Aug. 7.
Two businesses in one location — Peterson Cat handles sales.Peterson Cat handles sales and Cresco Cat handles rentals — the two companies work out of the same space.
Cresco Cat handles rentals.According to a statement from the company, “We’re now your authorized Cat® Dealer and source for new and used machine sales, equipment service, Genuine Cat Parts and rental equipment for any project for homeowners and contractor. Please join us to meet our local staff and corporate management, explore our facility and enjoy a free lunch,” served at noon.

The interior of store is immaculate and shines like a new penny.If you have a project and need to tool to get it done, Peterson Cat and Cresco is the place for you.
Store manager Ken Waite said, “We want to take care of all the contractors and all the homeowners and have everything they need for any project they might have. And if we don’t have it, we can get it for them.”
That doesn’t mean only big giant pieces of heavy equipment. Cresco stocks smaller items as well.
“We have rototillers, stump grinders, wood chippers, a little bit of everything. If you need it Cresco probably has it or we can get it for you,” Waite said.
Peterson Cat (authorized Cat Dealer in northern California, Oregon, and southwest Washington) acquired the Plumas and Lassen County territory formerly served by Empire Cat (the Cat Dealer serving Arizona, Nevada and eastern California) on April 1.
Peterson provides rental equipment through Cresco Cat Rentals and genuine Cat parts, service and sales through Peterson Cat and opened the store in Susanville in early June.
Peterson has created a landing page at petersoncat.com/susanville to welcome new customers and provide details about its locations and capabilities. A grand opening in Susanville is planned for late summer.
